A Bit About George

Hello, I'm George, a licensed therapist and Los Angeles transplant, providing services throughout this diverse city. My passion for helping others is deeply influenced by my personal experiences and professional development, and I am committed to supporting individuals in bravely connecting with their authentic selves and communities.

My journey began with my early years as an active member of the Mormon faith, a high-demand Christian religion. A personal faith crisis led me into the disorienting experience of faith deconstruction. Drawing on this profound experience, I now specialize in guiding men and LGBTQIA+ individuals through faith deconstruction, religious trauma recovery, and identity exploration. I offer a safe space for reconciliation, healing, and envisioning a future aligned with their true selves.

At Shakti Therapy, we value authenticity as both a therapeutic tool and a source of healing. I believe in the power of connecting with self-discovered and self-defined values and utilize an eclectic approach, incorporating Acceptance-Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Processing Therapy, and other creative methods tailored to each individual's needs.

I have had the immense privilege of working with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, striving to provide culturally informed and appropriate support. My experiences in Eastern Baltimore and South Los Angeles have taught me a great deal from individuals facing traumas, feelings of isolation, relationship conflicts, life transitions, and identity uncertainties.

Outside of my professional life, you can find me reading a good book, walking my dog, or experimenting with new bread recipes. I love exploring LA, experiencing new foods, sights, and people. My truest passion is learning and experiencing new things, challenging my perspectives, and establishing new ones.

A Message To My Clients

I recently learned that the word "heal" comes from the Old English haelan, which means "to make whole" rather than simply to cure or fix. This concept of healing as a journey toward wholeness is at the heart of my approach. As your therapist, I will prioritize a whole-person, individualized approach, focusing on both utilizing and accessing your innate strengths as well as addressing your presenting concerns. I am passionate about empowering you to move toward the life you want by helping you clarify and pursue your authentic self.

Connect with me for a free consultation. Together, let’s embark on this journey toward empowerment and healing so you can live a more authentic, fulfilling life.
